Riverside Bows to Unbeaten Foe in Boys State Basketball

Riverside only trailed unbeaten Johnson-Brock by two points, 25-23, at halftime of their D1 boys state basketball tournament quarterfinal.

But, the Chargers were outscored by the Eagles 15-6 in a decisive third quarter and were defeated 54-34 last night at the Devaney Sports Center.  The No. 7 seeded team from Cedar Rapids made it to state for the seventh time in its 10 seasons, but ended with a 19-8 record.

Johnson-Brock improved to 26-0 and registered its 34th straight win dating back to last season when the Eagles won their fourth state title.
