Pitching Lifts Columbus Legion Teams Over Lincoln Northeast
Both of Columbus’ American Legion baseball teams had great pitching and defense last night in home wins over Lincoln Northeast.
Ryan Eickhoff tossed a complete-game, three-hitter for the Cornerstone Insurance Group Seniors in a 5-0 victory. He didn’t walk a batter and notched nine strikeouts. Connor Rausch and Wyatt Swanson each had two hits and a pair of RBI and Juri Rivera added two hits and scored twice. Columbus improved to 12-7.
The OneUnited Federal Credit Union Junior Blues won 7-1. Matt Krueger allowed one run over six innings and Carter Renteria pitched a scoreless seventh. Connor Williams went 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs as the Junior Blues moved to 5-11.
Both teams host Grand Island tonight. It’s Fan Appreciation Night at Pawnee Park’s Legion Field. All fans receive free admission and popcorn and they’ll get free T-shirts, courtesy of Cornerstone Insurance Group.
