NCAA Puts Creighton Men’s Hoops on Probation

The Creighton’s men’s basketball program has been placed on two years’ probation.  The NCAA also docked scholarships from CU over the next two seasons.

The move came yesterday after the NCAA investigated allegations that a former Bluejays assistant coach accepted cash from a management agency.  The NCAA said Creighton athletic director Bruce Rasmussen violated ethics rules after he conducted his own investigation without notifying the compliance office.

In a statement, Rasmussen said: “We are anxious to move forward knowing that the series of reforms we have made to our policies and procedures” will ensure “compliance with the NCAA’s high ethical standards.”
