Monarchs, Bison Both Ousted From State Softball Tourney

The first-ever trip to state softball for Aquinas Catholic ended yesterday.
The fifth-seeded Monarchs were edged by No. 8 seed Gothenburg 7-6 in the Class C state tourney. Aquinas went 0-2 in Hastings and ended with an overall record of 22-8.
No. 2 seed Central City beat Gothenburg 7-2 in an elimination game Thursday afternoon. But, the Bison were outslugged and ousted by Ashland-Greenwood 17-13 last night. Central City finished 2-2 at state and 33-5 overall.
Ashland-Greenwood and Bishop Neumann, both 3-0 in the tourney, will meet for the Class C title next Monday at UNO.
