Foley: Alvano Battling Bleekrode for Place-Kicking Duties

Nebraska special teams coordinator Ed Foley says freshman kicker Tristan Alvano is in a battle with junior Timmy Bleekrode to handle the Huskers’ field goals this season.

Both of them are competing along with punter Brian Buschini to handle kickoffs.  Foley is pleased with the way that competition is going in fall camp.  “This is my 35th year coaching college football and whether I was coaching the offensive line, tight ends or now special teams, competition is almost always good for everybody,” Foley said.  “Right now, I’m really pleased with how those guys are pushing and supporting each other.”

The Huskers are getting ready for their season opener at Minnesota on Thursday, August 31st.
