Five Area Girls Basketball Teams Make State Tournament

Five out of six girls basketball squads in the area won their district finals last Friday.

Once the Class B finals were played Saturday, the girls state tournament bracket was released.  In Class C1, No. 8 seed North Bend Central is an underdog to win a fifth consecutive state title.  The Tigers open against top-seeded Lincoln Christian on Thursday.

The other four teams are all in quarterfinals on Wednesday.  In C2, Cross County is seeded No. 4 and battles Bishop Neumann while seventh-seeded Clarkson/Leigh meets Crofton.  In D2, Howells-Dodge is No. 4 and Humphrey St. Francis is No. 7.  The Jaguars face Sandhills/Thedford while the Flyers take on Falls City Sacred Heart.

Alpha Media radio stations will air all of the area teams’ games, except for third-place contests.  For details, see the sports broadcast schedule at mycentralnebraska.com.
