Eleven Husker Defenders Awarded Blackshirts
The eleven Nebraska defensive players that are expected to start in the Huskers season opener Thursday at Minnesota found Blackshirts hanging in their lockers yesterday.
They include defensive linemen Blaise Gunnerson, Nash Hutmacher and Ty Robinson, linebackers Chief Borders, John Bullock and Luke Reimers, cornerbacks Malcolm Hartzog and Quinton Newsome, safeties Omar Brown and DeShon Singleton and rover Isaac Gifford.
Defensive coordinator Tony White said the players who wear Blackshirts in practice will be “a week-to-week deal.” He explained: “You want to make it special, you want to keep guys competitive.”
Thursday’s kickoff at Minnesota is set for 7 p.m. The pregame starts at 3 p.m. on News Talk 900 KJSK. It will be joined at 6:30 on 93.5 The Hawk.
