Discoverers Football Team Downed at Norfolk
Columbus High fell at Maroon Cup rival Norfolk 28-14 on Thursday night.
Panthers senior running back Rowdy Bauer scored all four touchdowns for Norfolk, including a 96-yard run late in the second quarter. That gave Norfolk a 21-7 halftime lead.
In the opening minute of the third quarter, Discoverers senior Tanner Esch raced for a 55-yard touchdown run as Columbus cut the deficit to 21-14. Bauer found paydirt on a 25-yard scoring run early in the fourth quarter to account for the final score.
The Discoverers slipped to 1-1, as Norfolk won its season opener.
