Columbus Seniors Win, Junior Blues Fall at Hastings

Columbus’ American Legion baseball teams split at Hastings last night. 

The Cornerstone Insurance Group Columbus Seniors scored four runs in the top of the first on their way to an 8-3 victory.  Will Wickham had two hits and two RBI and leadoff batter Quenton Gustafson walked twice and scored two runs.  Cornerstone starter Juri Rivera pitched five scoreless innings and had two hits and an RBI.  His battery mate, Connor Rausch also went 2-for-4 and drove in a run.  Columbus’ third straight win upped its record to 6-3. 

The OneUnited Federal Credit Union Junior Blues suffered an 11-1 defeat.  The Blues have lost four straight, slipping to 1-4. 

Both teams will be in action at Pawnee Park Legion Field tonight against Kearney.
