Columbus’ Legion Teams Fall to Grand Island, Host Norfolk Today

Columbus’ American Legion baseball teams both lost to Grand Island last night at Pawnee Park’s Legion Field. 

The Cornerstone Insurance Group Columbus Seniors were edged 2-0.  Each team managed just three hits, but Columbus pitchers allowed six walks compared to only two by Grand Island.  The Seniors fell to 12-8. 

The OneUnited Federal Credit Union Junior Blues were downed 10-1, slipping to 5-12. 

Both Columbus teams host Norfolk this evening.  It’s Veterans Appreciation Night at Legion Field.  Veterans will be honored and will enjoy a free hot dog, popcorn and a bottle of water.  First pitch for the Junior Blues’ game is set for 5 p.m. with the Seniors’ contest to follow at about 7:30.
