Columbus Bats Struggle in Two HAC Tournament Defeats

Columbus High baseball went 0-2 yesterday as the HAC tournament opened in Lincoln. 

The Discoverers were shut out by rival Norfolk 4-0, then were downed by Lincoln Pius X 7-1 at Den Hartog Field. 

Columbus managed just two singles – delivered by Kaden Brownlow and Matt Krueger – in the loss to the Panthers.  Alex Griffith pitched well for CHS, allowing no runs on two hits over four innings. 

In the loss to the Thunderbolts, Columbus mustered three singles, with two delivered by Jarrett Bell who drove in the Discoverers lone run.  On the mound, Bell gave up six runs, five earned, on 11 hits over 6.2 innings.  Columbus is 4-12 on the season. 

The Discoverers visit Norfolk Saturday for a game that will be broadcast on KLIR 101.  First pitch will be approximately at 2 p.m.
