CHS Wrestling Fifth in State Dual Meet; Aquinas, St. Paul Win Titles

Columbus finished in fifth place in the Class A state dual wrestling meet in Kearney. 

The Discoverers boys fell to No. 2 seed Millard West 39-24 in Saturday’s quarterfinals.  CHS bounced back to defeat Omaha Bryan 48-25 in the consolation semifinals.  Columbus edged Kearney 40-36 in the fifth place match. 

Aquinas earned first place in Class D.  The Monarchs shaded Sutherland 40-39 in the title match. 

St. Paul took first place, while Central City was fifth out of eight Class C teams. 

Schuyler tied with Beatrice for last in Class B.
