CHS Girls Soccer Opens Season at Home Thursday
The Columbus High girls soccer team will open its season Thursday with a home match against Lincoln Southwest.
Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at the CHS turf field.
Zack Wayman notes in his season preview that this team will be his most experienced in four years of coaching at CHS. The Discoverers went 10-6 last season.
They have a few three-year starters returning, led by Abby Haynes who had eight goals and five assists last year. Carly Gaedeke is another third-year starter, who had eight assists and a goal in 2023, while goalkeeper Jordyn Trotta had 62 saves compared to 13 goals against.
Wayman calls this year’s team “fast, physical, tall and technical.”
