Briggs, Barcel, Rathbone Lead Lakeview Track in Opener

Lakeview’s Erin Briggs won the girls discus throw as the Vikings track and field team opened its season Thursday at a meet hosted by Concordia University.
Briggs placed fourth in the girls shot put. Blake Barcel took third place in the girls 60 meter dash and was fourth in the high jump.
In the boys meet, Blake Rathbone finished third in the long jump. He was also a member of the Vikings 1,600 relay team that took third.
Lakeview’s girls finished sixth out of 17 teams, while the Vikings boys placed 12th in a 15-team field. In the combined team scores, Lakeview was 10th out of 17 schools.
