CHS Football Season Preview; Gatorade Scrimmage is Tonight

The high school football season will kick off for Columbus High a week from tomorrow.

The Discoverers will host rival Fremont August 18th in a 7 p.m. game.  It will be the first contest played on a new artificial turf that was installed this week.

In his season preview, coach Craig Williams noted that “a lot of young guys played meaningful minutes last year due to injuries,” which should help his team this season.  Williams said the Discoverers’ offensive linemen must stay healthy this year.  He also notes his quarterbacks, Braylon Van Cura and Will Wickham, need to be more efficient, adding that both received “a bunch of snaps last year and they have worked hard this off-season.”

The Discoverers will have their annual Gatorade scrimmage tonight at 7 o’clock at the high school.

You can hear Columbus’ season opener next Friday on KLIR 101.
