Zelasney Has Hand in Four Gold Medals at State Track

The state track meet in Classes C and D wrapped up on Saturday at Burke Stadium in Omaha.

The Osceola boys team didn’t quite have enough to repeat as Class D champions.  But Isaiah Zelasney had a hand in four gold medals, leading the Bulldogs to a runner-up finish.  Zelasney won the 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes and he anchored Osceola’s winning 1,600-meter relay team.   Riverside tied for third place as Tony Berger won gold medals in the triple jump, long jump and 110-meter hurdles.

On the Class D girls’ side, Osceola’s 400-meter relay team won gold, as did Teagan Gonzer of Fullerton in the long jump and Humphrey St. Francis’ 3200-meter relay team.

In Class C, David City High was the top area finisher, scoring 13 points in the girls competition and 10 in the boys meet.
