Young Praises NJCAA For Delaying Fall, Winter Sports
CCC athletic director Mary Young put a positive spin on the NJCAA’s decision that its 500-plus schools’ fall sports seasons will be moved to the spring. The JUCO association also decided winter sports – men’s and women’s basketball at Central – will begin in January instead of November.
In a news release, Young said “the plan is well laid out and it has the safety and health of our student-athletes at the core of it.” The association will allow some scrimmage and practice dates in the fall, which Young said: “It is 60 days to improve athletically. Plus, the most important element is that it continues to allow our student-athletes to progress academically toward a degree.”
Meanwhile, CCC’s website has posted a notice that Raider Cheer and Dance tryouts will be held on August 24th. The fall tryouts will take place from 6-8 p.m. that evening at the Raider Fieldhouse.
