Brice Williams scored a game-high 27 points as the Nebraska men’s basketball team opened its season with an 87-67 win over Texas-Rio Grande Valley last night.

Connor Essegian had seven of his 13 points off the bench in a decisive second-half run for the Huskers at Pinnacle Bank Arena.  The Vaqueros had pulled to within 69-65 with less than six minutes left before Essegian took over.  The 6-foot-4 guard keyed a 12-0 run as NU pulled away.
