Voluntary Workouts Begin Today for Some NU Athletes

Members of several of Nebraska’s sports teams are able to begin voluntary workouts in the school’s athletic facilities today.
The first players able to return are those with NU’s football, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball and soccer teams. Additional Husker teams will begin workouts in a phased approach over the coming weeks.
The school says the detailed plan for returning to workouts during a pandemic was coordinated in part with the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
The return protocol includes several steps that must be met, including quarantining athletes for a minimum of 48 hours when they arrive in Lincoln. They’ll also need a negative test result for COVID-19 before being allowed to access NU’s facilities.
The school says the voluntary workouts will also follow a series of guidelines to help ensure the safest and cleanest environment possible.
