Volleyball: CHS Falls to Fremont, Scotus Wins at Kearney Catholic
Columbus High’s volleyball team opened its season last night on the wrong foot.
The Discoverers were downed by rival Fremont 3-1 at CHS. The Tigers won 25-21, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21. Paighton Erb finished with 16 kills, while Ayla Janssen added 10 kills for Columbus.
The Discoverers will compete in the Norfolk Invite on Saturday.
Scotus’ volleyball club posted a 3-2 win in its season opener at Kearney Catholic. Scores of Thursday night’s match were 22-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-12, 20-18. Mallory Dreesen led the Shamrocks with 18 kills and Larkyn Mahoney added 12, while Meah Sackett had 52 set assists.
Scotus is back on the road next Tuesday, visiting Omaha Concordia.
