Vikings Beat Bison Without Janssen on KZ-100

Despite playing without their leading scorer, the Lakeview girls’ basketball club rallied to down Central City 54-47 in last night’s subdistrict play at Columbus High School.

Freshman Josie Bentz, filling in for the injured Reese Janssen, scored all 10 of her points in the second half as the Vikings rallied from down 33-27 at the half. Madi Vogt led Lakeview with 14 points – all in the first half – and Lilly Rowe added 13.

Taryn Wagner led the Bison with 17 points, all coming before the break.

The Vikings are now 9-14, while Central City finished at 12-12.

In tonight’s C1-8 subdistrict semifinals, number 5 seed Lakeview meets top-seeded St. Paul at 6 p.m., then number 2 seed Scotus takes on third-seeded Boone Central around 7:45.  Both games will be aired on KZ-100.
