Vandy Scores Seven Runs in First Inning to Beat Bulldogs
Vanderbilt gave its starter Jack Leiter a big early lead and cruised to an 8-2 victory over Mississippi State in Game 1 of the College World Series finals last night.
The Bulldogs scored a run in the top of the first, but the Commodores responded with a seven-run outburst in their first at-bat. Leiter allowed two runs on three hits and struck out eight in six innings.
Vandy tries to win a second straight national championship tonight in Omaha. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at T.D. Ameritrade Park. The game will be televised on ESPN.
