VanCura To Start at Quarterback in Friday’s Season Opener
Braylon VanCura will start at quarterback for Columbus High in tomorrow night’s season and home opener against Fremont.
The senior is listed as a starter on coach Craig Williams’ 2-deep chart. Junior Will Wickham is the Discoverers back-up QB.
Both quarterbacks saw action in all nine games for Columbus last season, when the Discoverers won their season opener at Fremont before dropping their final eight contests. VanCura completed almost 48 percent of his passes, throwing for 241 yards. He had two touchdown passes and eight interceptions. Wickham had a 48.5 percent completion rate, passing for 352 yards with two TDs and three picks.
Friday’s kickoff at Pawnee Park’s Memorial Stadium is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on KLIR 101.
