Unger, Borgman, Ditter Qualify For State Bowling Tournament

One Columbus High bowler and two from Lakeview, along with three area teams, have qualified for the state tournament.

Discoverers sophomore Gavin Unger finished in fifth place in yesterday’s A-6 district in Grand Island.  He rolled a 540 series to secure the final state qualifying spot from that district.  As a team, the CHS boys placed second behind Grand Island.  The Columbus girls finished fifth as a team with no state qualifiers.

Lakeview freshman Daniel Borgman was the B-4 district champion with a 549 series at Westbrook Lanes.  His senior teammate Trenton Ditter took fourth place with a 489 series to make state for the second straight year.  The Vikings girls finished in fourth place with no Lakeview bowlers in the top five needed to earn a trip to the state.

The state singles bowling tournament is next Wednesday at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln.

Also yesterday, the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family boys and girls, as well as the Howells-Dodge girls, qualified for the Class B state team championships next Tuesday.  The Bulldogs boys and girls both topped the B-4 district team standings and the Jaguars girls took second.
