Two People Arrested After Chase Into Columbus
COLUMBUS- Two people were arrested Tuesday after stealing a pickup and leading police on a chase.
At 1:10 p.m. the Platte County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Duncan area in regards to a pickup which had previously been reported stolen out of Nance County, and reported to be in the area. As deputies were responding, the vehicle, a pickup left the area traveling eastbound towards Columbus on Highway 30. As deputies caught up to and attempted to stop the stolen truck, the driver refused to pull over. At the intersection of Highway 30 and 81, the stolen pickup turned north. The driver continued to refuse to stop for deputies as the vehicle traveled northbound on Highway 81. As the vehicle came to the intersection of 33rd Ave. and 13th St. in Columbus, the stolen vehicle struck an eastbound vehicle at that intersection. The driver, 22-year-old Alexis Maneely of Duncan, was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property, Flight to Avoid Arrest, Driving Under Suspension, Willful Reckless Driving, and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident. A passenger in the pickup, 18-year-old Torrien Harris of Lincoln, was also arrested on a Lancaster warrant and the charge of False Reporting.
This incident remains under investigation.
