Two CHS Semifinalists, Reimers Sets Record at State Wrestling

Two Columbus High Discoverers advanced to today’s semifinals and one Palmer Tiger set a Class D record as the state wrestling tournament opened yesterday in Omaha.
Columbus sophomore Adrian Bice pinned his first opponent in 58 seconds and earned an 11-4 decision in the quarterfinals at 113 pounds. Discoverers senior Blayze Standley pinned both of his foes in the A170 bracket. After day one, CHS was ninth in the Class A team scores with 46 points, 57 fewer than first-place Millard South.
In D145, Palmer senior Ruger Reimers’ quarterfinal victory was his 205th career win, setting a new Class D record.
Others moving on to the Class D semifinals included three East Butler wrestlers: Reece Kocian, Lane Bohac and Trevin Brecka. Others who went 2-0: Jestin Bayer of Howells-Dodge, Fullerton’s Brett Bridger and Palmer’s Gunner Reimers.
D team scores – East Butler was tied for seventh with 33 points, 24 behind first-place Plainview, while Palmer was tied for 13th with 27 points.
