Tuesday a Good Day to Be a Bulldog at State Hoops

It was a good day for two area teams nicknamed Bulldogs in today’s high school state basketball tournaments.  The Osceola boys rallied in the second half to win and the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family girls ended recent years of frustration in the quarterfinals.

Osceola trailed Wynot at halftime 33-28, but came back to win the D2 quarterfinal, 52-48.  The 22-5 Bulldogs advanced to Thursday’s semifinals against top-seeded St. Mary’s.  Tipoff at the Devaney Center is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be carried on 93.5 The Hawk.

The H/LHF girls, who had lost in the first round of the state tourney in three of the past four years, downed Nebraska Christian 56-41.  Both teams have 20-6 records, but the Eagles – who were making their first-ever appearance at state – are done.  The Bulldogs meet Archbishop Bergan in Thursday’s D1 semifinals.  It will tip off at 10:45 a.m. at the Devaney Center and you can hear play-by-play on KZ-100.
