Tigers Cruise Early, Hang On to Keep 4-Peat Hopes Alive

North Bend Central raced out to a 17-0 lead over the first seven minutes of the C1 girls state basketball quarterfinal against Yutan, then hung on for a 48-43 win. 

The Tigers, seeking to claim their fourth consecutive state title, saw Yutan climb to within 35-33 in the fourth quarter.  North Bend responded with a 6-0 run and a 41-33 lead. 

Senior Kaitlyn Emanuel scored a game-high 20 points as the Tigers won their 26th straight game to move to 26-1 on the season.  They improved to 104-8 over the past four years. 

In Friday’s C1 semifinals, the top-seeded Tigers will face No. 5 seed Malcolm.  The Clippers beat Wahoo 46-32 in today’s second C1 game at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.  Tipoff on Friday is set for 9 a.m.  The game will be at Pinnacle Bank Arena and aired on 93.5 The Hawk.
