Three of Four Boys State Golf Tourneys Opened Tuesday
Three of the four boys state golf tournaments got underway Tuesday, while the first day of the Class C tourney at Elks Country Club was canceled by bad weather.
In the Class A tournament at Norfolk Country Club, Owen Lawrence of Columbus shot a 12-over 84 and was tied for 41st. The Discoverers Keaton Barnes was tied for 62nd after carding a 16-over 88 in his opening round.
Lakeview was tied for 11th in the team standings of the Class B event in Scottsbluff. The Vikings had a team score of 355. Grayson Vogt had Lakeview’s top individual performance, shooting a nine-over 81 that had him tied for 17th heading into the final round today.
After its first round was canceled yesterday in Columbus, the Class C tournament will now be an 18-hole event today. Scotus, David City and St. Paul are competing as teams, along with Central City’s Ayden Zikmund and Brock Olivo golfing as individuals.
Humphrey St. Francis finished yesterday in sixth place in the Class D team standings with a score of 354 in North Platte. The Flyers were led by Andrew Kosch, who shot a 10-over 82.
