Three Husker Defenders Recognized by Coaches, Media

Nebraska edge rusher Garrett Nelson was a second-team All-Big Ten pick today by the conference coaches and the media. 

Another junior, linebacker Luke Reimer received honorable-mention accolades by coaches and media, while junior cornerback Quinton Newsome received honorable mention from the coaches. 

Nelson finished the season with 65 tackles.  The 2022 team captain from Scottsbluff led the Huskers with nine tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Reimer led Nebraska in tackles for the second straight season with 86 stops despite missing two games with an injury.  It marks the second straight season the Lincoln native has been an honorable-mention selection. 

Newsome had a team-leading 10 pass breakups, 44 tackles and a pair of sacks.
