Thompson, Huskers Go Down Against Illinois

Nebraska’s football team led No. 17 Illinois 9-6 midway through the second quarter Saturday when quarterback Casey Thompson suffered an elbow injury.

On that play, Illinois had an interception return to the Huskers’ 11-yard line and scored two plays later to take the lead for good in a 26-9 victory.  Thompson would not return and NU managed just 34 yards of offense without him.  After the game, interim coach Mickey Joseph said Thompson is day-to-day.

Kickoff for this Saturday’s home game against Minnesota has been set for 11 a.m.  The pregame starts at 7 a.m. on News Talk 900 KJSK and will be joined at 10:30 on 93.5 The Hawk.
