State Wrestling Changes Format as Girls Expand to Two Classes

State wrestling will have a new format next year after the NSAA announced Tuesday it has entered a new five-year contract with the host, Omaha’s  CHI Health Center.

Beginning next year, the girls and boys state wrestling meets will be held independently over five days, rather than together over three days as in the past.  Girls wrestling will expand to two classes next year.  The girls state championships will be held Tuesday, February 18 and Wednesday, February 19, with the boys state meet to follow February 20-22.

Girls wrestling will no longer have a sub-district round and girls’ districts will take place on the same weekend as boys’ districts.
