State Soccer: Scotus Boys Fall, Schuyler Wins

Scotus fell in the opening round of the Class B boys state soccer tournament last night, while Schuyler won earlier in Wednesday’s quarterfinal action. 

The Shamrocks fell behind Lexington 3-0 in the first half, before Trenton Cielocha scored for Scotus shortly before halftime.  Cielocha scored again in the second half, but the Minutemen held on for the win.  The Shamrocks finished with a 13-5 record. 

Schuyler edged South Sioux City 2-1, as the Warriors improved to 15-2.  In Saturday’s semifinals, Schuyler will meet top-seeded Bennington, which is 18-0. 

Today, the Class B girls tourney gets underway at Morrison Stadium.  Third-seeded Scotus battles Omaha Mercy at 7:30 p.m.  You can hear play-by-play on KLIR 101.
