Start of GRC Basketball Tourneys Now PPD Until Tuesday

The Goldenrod Conference girls and boys basketball tournaments have had their start now delayed until next Tuesday.

The updated brackets were released Sunday night.  The tourneys, which earlier had been postponed by snow from Saturday to Monday, will now begin with a pair of opening round games in girls and boys action on Tuesday.

Both tourneys will have the quarterfinals on Wednesday.  On the girls side, Humphrey St. Francis will host Fullerton or Elba at 4:30 p.m., following a 3 p.m. game between Riverside and Central Valley.  Nebraska Christian welcomes St. Edward or Heartland Lutheran at 7:30 p.m., after Palmer takes on Burwell at 6 p.m.  (each of those tipoff times on Wednesday in Central City was pushed back three hours on MLK Day).

In the boys tourney Wednesday, St. Francis entertains Palmer or Burwell at 7:30 p.m., following a 6 p.m. tipoff for Fullerton vs. St. Ed.  Riverside hosts Heartland Lutheran or Elba at 7:30 p.m., after Nebraska Christian battles Central Valley.

The rest of both tournaments’ games will be played at Central Valley High in Greeley and have not had their dates or tipoff times affected.  The girls semifinals are set for next Thursday at 6 and 7:30 p.m.  The boys semifinals are slated for Friday with the same tipoff times.  Both championship games are set for next Saturday with the girls at 6 p.m., followed by the boys title tilt.  Most possible matchups will have play-by-play aired on 93.5 The Hawk.
