St. Francis, H/LHF Win, St. Paul Falls at Boys State Hoops
Humphrey St. Francis defeated Randolph 57-46 in the boys state basketball tournament today.
The Flyers were fueled by their two Pfeifers – sophomore Tanner scored a team-high 21 points and senior Trevor added 20 points and had five blocks. St. Francis, which went unbeaten in football to win a state championship last fall, improved to 26-0 in hoops and advanced to Friday’s D2 semifinals.
That game is slated for 2 p.m. at the Devaney Center and can be heard on KLIR 101. It will pit the Flyers against Mullen. The Broncos got by St. Mary’s 51-49 today.
Also, defending D1 state champ Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family beat Fullerton 71-53 this afternoon. The Bulldogs advanced to Friday’s 10:45 a.m. semifinal at the Devaney Center, which will be broadcast on 93.5 The Hawk.
H/LHF will meet Southern Valley, which upset Osmond 50-49 on Thursday.
Meantime, in the C1 quarterfinals, St. Paul was downed by top-seeded Adams Central 65-42. The Wildcats wound up with a 19-8 record.
