St. Ed Native, Husker and NFL Star Pat Fischer Dies at 84

Pat Fischer, a native of St. Edward, Nebraska who starred for the Huskers football team before going on to an All-Pro NFL career, has died. 

He died Tuesday at age 84 in suburban Washington, D.C.  Fischer was a standout at Omaha Westside earning all-state honors in 1956.  He was a safety, running back, quarterback and a standout punt returner at Nebraska. 

Fischer was drafted by St. Louis and played 17 NFL  seasons with the Cardinals and Washington, appearing in three Pro Bowls in the 1960s.
