Softball: Discoverers Swept, Vikings Blanked

In prep softball last night, Columbus High dropped both ends of a twinbill at Fremont.

The Tigers exploded for 11 runs in the third inning of the opener to win 12-1 in three-and-a-half innings.  In the nightcap, the Discoverers took an early lead on a three-run homer by Gwen Stachura in the top of the first.  But, Fremont rallied to win 16-5 in five innings.  Stachura had two more hits in the game, including a solo homer.

CHS has lost five straight to fall to 4-11.

Meantime, Lakeview was shutout at Seward 12-0.  The Vikings have dropped three of their last four contests, falling to 6-7.
