Softball: Discoverers Swept in Fremont, Vikings Edged at Seward

The Columbus softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader Monday at rival Fremont.

The Tigers edged the Discoverers 6-5 in extra innings and also won 6-2.  CHS has lost six straight games to fall to 6-18.  The Discoverers will visit Omaha Westside tonight.

Meanwhile, Lakeview’s softball club also lost an extra-inning affair, getting shaded at Seward 6-5 in eight innings.  The Vikings scored a run in the top of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead, but the Bluejays rallied to tie it in the home half and walk it off with a run the next inning.

Lakeview freshman left fielder Alyssa Taylor had a home run and three RBI, as the Vikings slipped to 5-13.  They’ll visit Aurora Thursday.
