Shamrocks Boys Subdistrict Formula Works Like a Charm

Use hot-shooting and pinpoint-passing to get off to an early lead, hold off the opposing team’s comeback, and hit free throws in the final period.

The Scotus boys basketball subdistrict formula worked for a third straight game, as the Shamrocks downed Aurora 38-27 in last night’s subdistrict final in Geneva.  Scotus hit two three-pointers and passed to Max Wemhoff in the low post for four close field goals as they built an 18-10 lead after one quarter.  The Rocks led 22-12 at the half and scored the first four points after the break.

But, the Huskies went on a 14-1 run to cut Scotus’ lead to 27-26 in the fourth quarter.  Jackson Heng’s three-pointer made it 30-26 and ignited a 9-0 run for Scotus and the Shamrocks were 8-for-10 at the free throw line in the final period.  The team that entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed won its fifth straight game to improve to 11-13.

Scotus received the 16th and final seed in the C1 district finals and will visit top-seeded Omaha Concordia on Monday at 7 p.m.  You can hear play-by-play on KLIR 101.
