Several Local Teams Open Their Fall Sports Seasons Today

Several local high school teams will be in action today as the fall sports season gets underway.
The Columbus High girls golf team will be in Grand Island for a triangular against the Islanders and Kearney at Jackrabbit Run. Meanwhile, the Discoverers softball club will host Lincoln North Star in a doubleheader. First pitch of the opener at Bradshaw Park is set for 5 p.m. Lakeview’s softball team opens its season with a single game against GICC. The Vikings host the 5 p.m. game at Lakeview High.
While it doesn’t count as a regular season match, Lakeview volleyball plays a jamboree in Pierce against the Bluejays and Clarkson/Leigh. Scotus volleyball also competes in a jamboree at Aurora against the Huskies and St. Paul.
