In yesterday’s cross country district races, both Scotus teams and one member of the Columbus High boys’ team qualified for next Friday’s state meet in Kearney.

The Shamrocks girls and boys teams both finished as the C-2 district runner-up in Pierce, meaning all 12 Scotus runners made state. The top three teams in each district advance to state, so girls’ district champ Boone Central and third-place North Bend also qualified. The Lakeview girls finished tenth in the 5K run, while the Vikings boys earned eighth.

The top 15 individuals in each district are also heading to Kearney, which is how Columbus High’s Joe McFarland punched his ticket after finishing 11th in the A-4 district in Lincoln.  in the team standings, the Discoverers boys were sixth, while the girls took seventh.
