Scotus Team Makes Girls State Golf, Lakeview’s Mueller In Again
Just as Columbus High did on Monday, Scotus girls golf qualified as a team for the state tournament Tuesday.
The Shamrocks won the C-2 district golf tournament yesterday at the Oakland Golf Club, one-upping the Discoverers who were a runner-up in the A-1 district tourney. Scotus carded a team score of 399 to easily beat C-2 runner-up Omaha Concordia by 33 strokes.
Shamrocks senior Quinn VunCannon was the district champion individually, after shooting an 88.
With the top three teams advancing to next week’s Class C state tournament in North Platte, Lakeview and Boone Central tied for third at 441. The Cardinals won a playoff against the Vikings to make state as a team. However, Lakeview senior Ali Mueller qualified for state for the second straight year, after finishing ninth with a 102.
That was one stroke behind Ava Sokol of Scotus, who took eighth. Also finishing in the top 10 to punch their ticket to state were Fullerton’s Keila Dubas, who was third at 94, and Cyah White Bull of Central City, who shot a 100 to place seventh.
