The Columbus High boys’ basketball team ran into a buzzsaw in its season opener last night.

Millard North showed why it’s considered one of the top boys’ basketball teams in the nation, pounding the Discoverers 95-46 at CHS.  Meantime, the Columbus girls took Millard North into overtime, but lost 54-51.

In other action, Lakeview’s teams both fell at home to Crete.  The Vikings boys were downed by the Cardinals 49-29, while the Lady Vikes were edged 43-40.

Scotus split with visiting Hastings St. Cecilia.  The Shamrocks boys lost 41-35, while the Scotus girls knocked off the third and fourth-ranked Hawkettes 45-32.
