Scotus Boys Golf Wins Team Title in Class C State Tourney

The Scotus boys golf team claimed their first state championship since 1981 on Wednesday at Elks Country Club.  Scotus carded a two-day team score of 64-over, 640 and finished 31 strokes ahead of second-place Doniphan-Trumbull in the Class C tournament. 

Two Shamrocks tied for third on the individual leaderboard.  Seth VunCannon and Nick Fleming both finished 12-over.  Also earning medals were Nolan Fleming of Scotus, whose plus-17 total put him in a four-way tie for tenth and Jaylin Jakub of Aquinas, whose 18-over was good for 14th. 

Columbus High’s Brock Kuhlman shot his second straight 3-over 75 to finish in a tie for ninth in the Class A tournament at Norfolk Country Club.  In the Class B event at Scotts Bluff Country Club, Lakeview finished tenth out of 12 teams.  The Vikings’ Maxwell Fremarek medaled by carding a 3-over 75 today to finish at 9-over and tied for seventh. 

In Class D, Howells-Dodge took fourth, while St. Francis was ninth in the 15-team field.  One area golfer won a medal in North Platte, as the Flyers’ Jaden Kosch tied for tenth with a two-day total of plus-23.
