Scotus Bows to Girls State Soccer Tourney Nemesis Skutt

Scotus girls soccer lost to state tournament nemesis Skutt 3-0 in Saturday’s Class B semifinal at Morrison Stadium.  It was the Shamrocks’ sixth straight loss to the SkyHawks in the state tourney since 2010. 

Skutt, the defending champions, took 19 shots on goal while Scotus managed just one in a match that featured about a 30-minute lightning delay with 17:16 remaining.  The loss snapped a 15-match winning streak for the ‘Rocks, who finished with a 16-3 record and made their 24th state tournament appearance. 

Playing at state for the 25th straight year, the SkyHawks are on an 11-match winning streak and take a 16-2 record into their 14th state title match.  Skutt will try for its ninth championship Monday evening against Norris.  The Titans  upped their record to 19-1 with a 3-0 win over Bennington Saturday afternoon.
