Schwellenbech Earns Honor, Huskers Open NCAA Tourney Play
Nebraska baseball’s Spencer Schwellenbach has been named a second-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
Tabbed as a utility player by the newspaper, Schwellenbach has starred at the plate and on the mound for the Huskers this year. The Big Ten Player of the Year enters the postseason hitting .289 with 12 doubles, six home runs and 35 RBI in 43 games. He ended the regular season tied for the conference lead in saves with nine. He has a 0.71 ERA and 29 strikeouts over 25-and-a-third innings.
Nebraska’s first game in the NCAA Tournament is tonight against Northeastern in the Fayetteville Regional. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. The pre-game starts at 6 on News Talk 900 KJSK.
