Satterfield Talks About Running Game, Sims’ Progress

Despite losing running backs Gabe Ervin and Rahmir Johnson to season-ending injuries last Saturday, offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield says Nebraska has other “very good athletes.”

He was asked yesterday if a key to this Saturday’s home game against Louisiana Tech is to make sure the Huskers have their best playmakers on the field.  “We’ve really got to be mindful of personnel groupings and getting the right guys in the right places in order to have some production in the running game,” Satterfield said.

Satterfield said quarterback Jeff Sims, who’s coming back from an ankle injury, had 50 to 55 percent of the reps in yesterday’s practice and “is progressing at the rate we thought he would.”

Saturday’s kickoff is at 2:30 p. m.  The pregame starts at 10:30 a.m. on News Talk 900 KJSK and will be joined at 2 p.m. on 93.5 The Hawk.
