Two former Nebraska football players have been released by New Orleans.  The Saints cut cornerback Prince Amukamara and yesterday waived kicker Brett Maher with an injury designation.

Maher was only able to kick extra points, and not handle kickoffs, in the Saints’ 17-14 loss at Baltimore in their preseason opener.  One report says Maher was hampered by a groin injury.

Another said New Orleans decided to cut Amukamara last weekend, ahead of yesterday’s deadline for NFL teams to trim their rosters to 85 players.
