Prokopec of CHS Wins Boys Bowling State Crown

Columbus High’s Ryland Prokopec won the boys bowling state title last night. 

The Discoverers sophomore rolled a four-game series of 891 in the qualifying round at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln.  That earned Prokopec the #8 seed among the eight bowlers in the championship bracket. He beat his three opponents in the finals by scores of 434-382, 351-347 and 434-408. 

CHS senior Alex Holdsworth also qualified for the girls singles championship as the #8 seed with a four-game total of 732 in yesterday’s qualifying.  But, Holdsworth fell in the championship quarterfinals by a score of 505-380.  Claire Busch of Papillion-La Vista South won the girls’ state title. 

In today’s girls team championships, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family enters as the #5 seed in the eight-team field.
