Nebraska running backs coach Ryan Held gave Husker football fans a breakdown of that position last night on Sports Nightly, aired on News Talk 900 KJSK.

Held said senior Dedrick Mills needed a little time to get used to NU’s spread offense last season, but improved in his ability to find holes and make cuts over the last third of the campaign. Held also called Mills a leader this year, who “has done a really good job of helping the younger guys.”

Held called freshman running backs Marvin Scott and Sevion Morrison “really talented.”  He noted Scott was a power lifting champion in high school and said Morrison is taller and has “track speed” with the opportunity to put on weight.

Held also reminded listeners that the duo are freshmen, saying “they’ve got to be able to execute and take care of their bodies.”
